Ashesi University is a private, non-profit, and non-sectarian university located in Berekuso, near Accra, Ghana. The university was founded in 1999 by Patrick Awuah and Nina Marini, with the aim of establishing a new kind of university in Africa. It began operating in 2001 under the mentorship of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and with degrees conferred by UCC.
